Girls Softball


The Lincoln County Parks & Recreation Youth Baseball is sanctioned through Cal Ripkin League ages 6-14 which is a sub league of the Babe Ruth League.

Age Requirements (Your age division is determined by your age on December 31 of last year)

14U( Live Pitch): 11-14 year olds
10U (Machine/Live Pitch: 9-10 year olds (8 year olds may play up)
8U (Machine Pitch): 7-8 year olds (6 year olds may play up)

Softball Bats:Metal or wooden, cannot exceed over 34” long, nor have a barrel in excess of 2 ¼”.

Softball Batting Helmets: A face cage on the helmet is mandatory.

Softball Face Mask:A face mask is recommended for all girls who play softball, especially for those playing an infield position.  Head coaches have the authority to enforce this policy.

Registration Fee: Goes toward a full uniform, player insurance, end-of-the-season award, field maintenance, utilities, and other expenses.

Parent Responsibility: You will need to provide your child with rubber cleats (no metal or plastic), glove, bat, and batting helmet.

Practice: Practice will begin after teams have been formed (approximately mid-April).  Coaches will be responsible for making the initial contact to parents about practice.  Teams will practice 1-2 times a week.  Practices are held at the First Southern Veterans Park Baseball Complex and Harmon Heights Baseball Fields (Danville Ave).  Typical practice days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.  Coaches are responsible for scheduling practice.

Games: All games will be played at the First Southern Veterans Park Baseball Complex (main entrance).  Opening day is the first Saturday in May.  Games are held on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.  Regular season is typically 6-8 weeks long, weather permitting.  There is an end-of-the-season tournament for baseball and softball (TBA).   Schedules will be posted on the bulletin board at the baseball complex.

Volunteer Coaching: If you are interested in becoming a volunteer coach, please notify the park office.

We are also taking donations for gently used cleats and player equipment.  Please bring those items to the park office.
